Sarah’s story
Plus Size 24

It’s a rare sunny spring day and I’m off to Brighton to chat with Sarah Anderson one of my plus size 24 customers. Sarah is a mum of four, twins Lilly and Polly age 8 Gavin age 11 and Richard age 16. Sarah and husband Andrew live with the children in a wonderful old thatched farm house in Rottingdean. Sarah is a 43 year old lawyer who works three days a week in Hove. I want to ask her what items she feels are needed to go into the perfect wardrobe for a plus size 24 girl.

We are treating ourselves to a spa day at the Metropole Hotel.  Sarah and I are both normally ardent foodies which probably accounts for my plus size 20 and her plus size 24 figure. But once again we are on a new regime and getting it kick started with a day of pampering at the spa.

Leanda           Sarah you look GORGOUS I just don’t know how you do it with the children, working and Andrew travelling all the time.

Sarah  Well I have to say you look wonderful yourself and you’ve just got out of the car - not a crease on you. How was your journey?

Leanda           Horrendous as usual but worth every moment to see you. Right, I’ve got my not pad out, my readers want to know all about how and where a busy mum and carer woman who is a size 24 get her wardrobe together.

Sarah  O.K. let’s talk about how first. I’m really boringly organised. I always change my cupboards over from spring/summer in March and to autumn/winter in September. I also give away or recycle a piece every time I buy something new.

Of course I’ve got staples that work all year round, for example Elena Grunert trousers. Then I make a divide between work/evening wear and fun relaxing things for my days with the kids.

Leanda  How do you dress for work?

Sarah  As I’m one of the directors I need to wear conventional business dressed my favourite pieces are by Marina Rinaldi.

Leanda and the week-end?

Sarah  Andrew and I, when we can we escape for a week end to London we both love all the arts and especially the theatre and concerts. When I’m not working I’m a completely different person. I can’t wait to shed my strict business persona. My other look has an altogether a more artistic and bohemian feel to it. I’ve recently discovered Anna Scholz.

Leanda  I love how you put yourself together and I admire how organised you are my only observation is that I would like to try and join your two personas together. I feel that you can let your clients and work colleagues see more of your creative side, try splitting one of your suits by wearing the jacket over an Anna Scholz silk print dress. In addition I recommend you have a look at a fabulous German collection, Wille, whose business suiting is fluid and comfortable their designs would work in all aspects of your life.

Sarah  Thank you so much, and now I cant wait to loosen up. So what’s first on the menu seaweed wrap or massage with hot stones?
