Ok Magazine interviews Coleen Nolan

Beige is delighted that celebrity stylist Arabella Boyce chose us…

Beige to dress Coleen Nolan for her shoot and interview with Ok! Magazine. Coleen demonstrates that it is perfectly possible to be a curvy size 18 and wear beautiful designer clothes. In this instance, Coleen is a true plus size ambassador. Wearing three distinct looks, Coleen shows us how to dress for a variety of occasions.

Coleen Nolan’s extraordinary career spans four decades. She first found stardom aged just nine years old together with her four older sisters (Maureen, Denise, Linda and Bernie) as part of singing troupe The Nolans. In the early 90s, she left the group and concentrated on raising her family. Since then she has presented This Morning, done a stint in The Big Brother House and is currently a regular presenter on the panel show Loose Women. Coleen is a businesswoman, a mother to three children (including singer and actor Jake Roche) and also an attractive single woman in her fifties who has just opened up about getting back into the dating game. Just like us, she needs a wardrobe full of fabulous clothes to suit all of those moods.

Look Number 1 – Neutral Iconic Casual

PIAZZA DELLA SCALA LONG EDGE TO EDGE CARDIGAN CREAM

Neutrals are currently experiencing a huge renaissance, there is nothing more on-trend than a perfectly coordinated tonal ensemble. With this look, Coleen is the embodiment of easy casual chic. She wears a beautifully soft and fluid edge to edge knitted jacket by Piazza Della Scala and over a simple oyster tunic by Elena Miro.

Styling Tip from Leanda

‘Plus size women are often scared to wear pale colours and mistakenly believe that dark colours make them look slimmer. It is more about the cut of a garment. It’s important to keep the colour flowing from head to toe, for an elegant balanced look. When you get a little bit older it is nice to have light colours that reflect the light up to your face. Neutrals are the epitome of elegance and it’s all about choosing pieces that are the right shape for your body. As you can see from Coleen’s outfit, a longline knitted jacket with a slight flare is the perfect way to create a clean silhouette.

Look Number 2 – We Mean Business

PERSONA BY MARINA RINALDI DOUBLE BREASTED BLAZER

Whether you’re a TV presenter like Coleen or you work in the corporate arena a sharp blazer will always equip you with poise and presence. Coleen is used to stepping into the spotlight and with this outfit she demonstrates the sartorial impact of good tailoring. She wears a double-breasted blazer by Persona by Marina Rinaldi and coordinating brown trousers by Persona by Marina Rinaldi.

Styling Tip from Leanda

“As a business woman myself, I know the importance of making an impact when you step into the room. When I arrive at a business meeting wearing an immaculately tailored blazer, I always feel composed and confident. The key is to ensure that the fit is impeccable. I buy my jackets one size bigger and have them taken in by a professional tailor to ensure that they fit like they’re made-to-measure.”

Look Number 3 Out on the Town

MARINA RINALDI PRINCE OF WALES CHECK SEQUIN BLAZER

Coleen recently revealed that she’s back in the dating game at the age of fifty-five. Dating in your fifties can be a daunting process but one way to avoid the first date jitters is to ensure you’re looking fabulous. Whether you’re newly single, happily married or somewhere in-between this outfit is perfect for a dinner date. Coleen wears sequin jacket by Marina Rinaldi and classic black lace camisole by Verpass.

Styling Tip from Leanda

‘A tailored sequin jacket is a contemporary way to dress for dinner. A well-cut jacket will always instil confidence. When I dress a woman I always play to her strengths. Coleen has a lovely décolletage so it’s great to show that off. I recommend investing in the satin lace camisole in several different colours – it’s an indispensable layering piece that will work with a whole host of outfits.

VERPASS SATIN CAMISOLE
