The Buying Season Is Upon Us

The Buying Season Is Upon Us

We have started to buy for SS14 and I’m so excited because we are off to Milan to see the Elena Miro collection. Even after 11 years of buying plus size fashion I still get a thrill when I walk into their show room.  Elena Miro is one of the few collections that really understand how a curvy woman should dress.   There isn’t any compromise on quality or style.

Meanwhile back at HQ the AW13 is pouring in and already I’m taking furtive glances at delicious pieces such as Personas soft mohair knits scattered with tiny sequins in softest grey. This is just crazy, we have only just started to get some decent sunshine and I’m pining for leather and mohair!

Following Milan, we fly to Düsseldorf, the twice a year epicenter of the European collections.  This year I will be with Barbara who some of you may remember as the Assistant Manager of our New Cavendish Street Branch.  Barbara is a yummy mummy to two gorgeous little girls, a beautiful curvy woman and now Assistant Buyer for Beige.  Barbara is also Beiges Web Manager.

May I take the opportunity to welcome to the Beige family Africa who joins us as Web Shop Administrator and who will work with Barbara.

When planning my capsule wardrobe for my forthcoming trip, I had a wardrobe crisis (yes I do have them).  It’s going to be very hot in Milan and Düsseldorf and I want to be cool comfortable and smart. I finally decided to take trousers by Sempre Piu in black navy and sand.  I’m currently a size 20 to the bottom half however in this style the size 22 looked better since my legs are really chubby even though my waist is relatively small.  Dear reader, please note whilst I prefer a fitted body con look for all plus women. wearing clothes that are too tight does not help you look slimmer.   I do not want a legging look – middle age woman with chubby legs on a business trip wearing leggings …yuk.

The wonderful stretch fabric is soo comfortable and yet cool too. The leg is narrow enough to look contemporary and yet doesn’t stick to my rather full calves and chubby knees. I can wear them with heels or flat shoes and I will start my day with a stylish linen jacket from Marina Rinaldi. I’ll probably ditch it if I get too hot so will ensure I pack some stylish Ts from Beiges SS13 collection.

If you haven’t tried the Sempre Pui trousers, do have a go!  You can buy them from our web shop.  Just click the picture to take you straight there.

In Düsseldorf we will be seeing some of our favorite collections such as Open End and Murek. In addition we will be trawling the exhibitions and Fashion Houses for new collections to add to Beiges portfolio of beautiful plus size clothes.

Barbara and I hope to take as many pictures as possible to give you a taste for next summer so watch out for news from Elena Miro in Milan next followed by collections from Dusseldorf.
