Plus Size Designer clothing, what does she mean, I hear you ask? Well you know stylish, chic, exclusive, up market and of course, large. Well larger than size 16.
Yes there are a few brands that fit into this category. Whilst I do wish that some of my favourite designers would include some of their styles in larger sizes (I dare not say all) there are some collections that specialize in plus sizes and can be considered “Designer”.The one most people know is Marina Rinaldi . Part of the Max Mara stable…from which you can expect the same Italian effortless style. Every garment is extremely well made, classic and yet somehow contemporary all at once.
There is another designer collection from Italy perhaps a little younger and more fashionista, Elena Miro. From size 12 to size 26 this is a comprehensive collection of weekend wear, business dress, smart day and stunning cocktail and special occasion wear. Elena Miro is from the great Italian Miroglio stable. Some of their collections include Kritzia and Caractere.
Then there is Elena Grunert (this lady really does exist) and Wille (pronounced Veellah) a family run business. Both collections are from Germany. Elena Grunert, herself a size 18 and only about five foot two inches really understands how to dress the fuller figure. Her collection goes up to a UK size 32.
Elena Grunert’s collection concentrates on outfits for smart day wear and evenings. It’s grown up and sophisticated. The Wille collection is always made from the best fabrics often sourced from the same fabric houses that Armani uses.
Anna Scholz is an extremely attractive vibrant tall size 26 woman. Anna is now quite famous for her designer brand collection that specializes in plus sizes. Anna creates the most fabulous prints and then turns them into stunning dresses tunics and skirts. Her style is brave, sexy, confident and young. Not for the faint hearted.
From France, Alain Weiz has a really lovely designer collection specializing in larger sizes. This attractive man, really appreciates girls with fuller figures. His collection spans every possible occasion. Its young and sexy with exciting twists and very French. Abundant use of colour print, beading, embroidery and anything else you can think of. Sounds OTT…but its fabulous.
